Client: Book Industry Charitable Foundation (BInC)
Former charity group, Borders Group Foundation, survived the dissolution of Borders and needed a new logo to accompany their new name, Book Industry Charitable Foundation, or BInC (a nod to the BINC inventory control stickers found on the backs of all books sold by Borders). They wanted the name spelled out in the logo so people could easily identify the company while they transitioned from Borders Group Foundation to the new identity. Eventually the plan is to shorten the text to just BInC Foundation, then finally to BInC, hence the multiple versions of the logo.

As part of a new web site rollout, this Drupal-based ecommerce developer asked me to design a large group of around eighty or so icon-like spot illustrations. This is a small sample of the set.

Client: Ann Arbor Public Schools / Devall Design
I was sub-contracted to design a logo for the new Ann Arbor Technological High School based on a student design chosen in a school-wide contest. The first logo is my most faithful recreation of the student design. Among other things, I made the knight's helmet more robotic, enlarging the rondel on the faceguard hinge to suggest headphones in keeping with the tech theme and the young audience. The final dragon-winged logo chosen by the school is lower left along with a few rejected alternatives I happen to like.
